How to Create a Blog on Shopify: Step-by-Step Guide 2025
Updated
Many store owners overlook one of Shopify's most powerful tools: the native Blog. You don't need to install expensive apps to start attracting organic traffic (SEO) and educating your customers about your products.
Why Is Having a Blog Important for Your E-commerce?
A blog is essential for SEO because it allows you to rank for informational keywords that product pages don't cover. It also establishes brand authority, builds customer trust, and serves as material for your social media and newsletters, driving qualified traffic without direct advertising costs.
Strategic Advantages:
- Free Traffic (SEO): Attract visitors without paying for ads.
- Brand Authority: Show that you're an expert in your niche.
- Internal Linking: Direct readers to your related products.

Blog Setup in 4 Steps
1 Activate and Rename the Blog
In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Blog posts. By default, Shopify creates a blog called "News". Click on "Manage blogs" (top right) and change the name to "Blog", "Tips", or something more relevant. This is important because it will affect your blog's URL.
2 Create and Publish an Article
Click on "Add blog post". Here you need to fill in:
- Title and Content: Use catchy titles and break up the text with images.
- Featured Image: Essential for it to look good in the grid.
- Tags: Help filter content within your store.
3 Make It Visible in the Menu
Even if you publish articles, nobody will see them if there's no link.
Go to Online Store > Navigation > Main Menu. Add a new item called "Blog", and in the link select "Blogs" > "News" (or the name you gave it in step 1).
4 Display It on the Home Page
For maximum visibility, go to "Customize" (Theme editor). Look for a section called "Blog posts". Add it to your home page and select the blog you just created. This way, your latest posts will automatically appear on the front page.
Advanced Management Tips
Visible Author
You can choose who appears as the post's author. Ideal if you have multiple writers or want to build a personal brand.
Schedule Posts
You don't need to publish everything right away. Use the "Visibility date" option to schedule posts in advance.
⚠️ Be Careful When Deleting Articles
If you delete an article that was already indexed on Google (as we show at the end of the video), you'll create a 404 Error. If the article had traffic, make sure to create a URL redirect before deleting it.
